Academic & Professional

The OUP-USA Academic/Trade Editorial Department, in conjunction with the Editorial Department at Oxford-UK, acquires and publishes books in the humanities, social sciences, and the physical, natural, earth, atmospheric and life sciences. Our editors publish a wide range of books in these subject areas, including monographs (for which Oxford is world-renowned), professional books, and serious non-fiction for educated readers, known as "trade books." Oxford's separate Higher Education department publishes texts for the college market.

Areas Of Publication

In the humanities OUP-USA publishes in literary and cultural studies, religion, philosophy, and classics. In the social sciences we publish in economics, politics, law, business, history, sociology, and linguistics. In the sciences Oxford has a strong presence in chemistry, physics, engineering, earth and atmospheric sciences, ecology, metallurgy, molecular/cell biology, computer science, neuroscience, and psychology.
