These pages contain companion materials for Principles of Biomedical Ethics, 7th edition, by Tom L. Beauchamp and James F. Childress. Materials include the following: summaries of each chapter in the text; goals for student learning related to the material in each chapter; reading and media resources for use by instructors as well as students; relevant weblinks; and sample quiz and essay questions for each chapter. PowerPoint slides covering the basic information of each chapter are also available.
While the volume of resources and information available on each of these topics is enormous, we have attempted to point to readings, media, resources, and weblinks of broad interest that can be used in a variety of classrooms and learning environments. Sample essay and quiz questions cover as much of the text as possible. The sample essay and quiz questions that are marked with an asterisk in the Instructor Resources are also available in the Student Resources for students to access and view. Those not marked with an asterisk are not viewable by students.
In general, the readings and media resources provided in the instructor materials are suitable as course assignments for students to view or read, discuss, report on, and so forth. Weblinks will likely be more useful as general references for students and as aids for clarifying terms used in the text.
We hope the materials on this site will be useful for instructors and students of bioethics, both in and out of the classroom. Thank you for visiting!
