OUP to create one centre of excellence for its printed music publishing
There will be important changes from 1 April 2010 regarding Sheet Music within Oxford University Press. OUP will combine its sheet music publishing lists in New York and Oxford into one centre of excellence based in Oxford. An expanded department there will provide all publishing functions and have sufficient scale to market a single list effectively world-wide.
David Blackwell, Head of OUP Music says:
The US is one of the most important markets for sheet music. The UK office is committed to building on the excellent work of our US colleagues with a full programme of publishing, promotion, and sales in this territory.
As part of the new structure, OUP is moving the exclusive distribution of its sales list in the US, South and Central America, and Mexico (and non-exclusive distribution in Canada) from OUP Inc.s distribution centre in Cary, North Carolina to C. F. Peters Corporation, in New York.
The Sheet Music Department already enjoys a close relationship with Peters who have managed the OUP rental distribution in the US for the past 3 years.
Suzy Gooch, Head of Sales and Marketing, OUP Music says:
I am delighted that OUP will be strengthening its partnership with Peters. In recent years they have proved themselves to be a professional and dedicated team who have brought many benefits to the distribution of our rental list. I am confident that they can bring the same benefits to the distribution of our sales list.
Roger P. McClean, President of C. F. Peters Corporation, NY says:
C. F. Peters is proud that OUP has decided to choose us for the distribution of their prestigious printed music catalog. We look forward to extending the same high quality of service that we have provided for their rental catalog to their sales list. Naturally, all of us at C. F. Peters are excited by this wonderful opportunity.
