OUP clean sweep at the BA's annual Academic, Professional & Specialist Booksellers Conference

For the fifth time in six years OUP has collected the Publisher of the Year award presented at the March 2010 Booksellers Association conference for Academic, Professional & Specialist Booksellers. For OUP's Corby Distribution Services it was even better news as they collected the accolade of Distributor of the Year for the sixth year running.

Competition for these awards comes from a wide range of academic publishers so they are always keenly contested. The awards are judged by booksellers and BA members working in the UK who score publishers throughout the year according to a comprehensive set of criteria. Categories focus specifically on the services being offered to booksellers by publishers such as engagement with bookshops, support from central or head office services, delivery turnaround times and publishing.

Performing well in these areas means that book retailers of all types can offer information regarding titles to their customers in a timely and effective manner. Winning the award demonstrates that OUP titles continue to reflect a diverse and engaging range of academic publishing.

The award for the Distributor of the Year for the sixth year running is a particularly outstanding achievement. Corby Distribution Services are a vital asset for the OUP business and booksellers throughout the UK clearly agree.

The awards were presented on the 11th March 2010 to Bonny Legge (Head of UK Retail Sales) and John Murison (Operations Shift Manager, Corby).

Bonny Legge commented: "Obviously it's hugely gratifying to win the award again. A bookseller is probably a publisher's keenest critic so it's great to know that we are doing right by them!"
