OAS

www.oas.org

This website contains the texts and ratification information for all the Inter-American treaties. These can be searched either by year, subject or alphabetically by following the 'treaties, conventions and protocols' link.

EU

www.europa.eu.int

This website contains information on all of the different functions of the EU including human rights activities. Under 'human rights' the information contained is relatively brief therefore it is useful to click on 'find out more' for more detailed information on the EU's influence on human rights. The EU's Annual Report on human rights is available.

African Union

www.africa-union.org

The Organisation of African Union human rights treaties, with up to date ratification information, are to be found under the section 'treaties, conventions and protocols'. Other than this the website is mainly of use for general background knowledge.

Secretariat of the Commonwealth

www.thecommonwealth.org

To locate information relevant to human rights it is necessary to follow the link labelled 'what we do'. This leads to information on the ratification activities of the commonwealth states with regard to the principal UN human rights treaties. Unfortunately there is no information on the Commonwealth and Independent States Human Rights Convention.

OSCE

www.osce.org

The website for the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, whilst only providing general background knowledge, is of particular interest due to the organisation's specific role in Europe. Human rights law depends largely on international cooperation and therefore it is useful to read about the methods that the organisation uses to achieve such cooperation between states.

Arab League

www.arableagueonline.org

The official web site of the League; it contains official documents of the League and texts of various documents in Arabic; the English language site is presently under construction.
