Question 2

  • The general principles of statutory interpretation and the recognition of international law. (3.4.1)

  • The need, in the end, for United Kingdom courts to give effect to the clear and unambiguous words of an Act of Parliament. (3.4.1, see also 3.6.2)

  • Examples include cases from the review of subordinate legislation and judicial review, both of which are, mainly, about statutory interpretation (e.g. 3.4.1.3 and 3.4.2.1).
