Tricker: Corporate Governance

Additional information on cases in the book

Unlike 'Harvard' style case studies, which often include a great deal of information, not all of it necessarily relevant, the vignette cases in the textbook have been written to describe the bare bones of a situation. Consequently, you are encouraged to look for more information, to discuss issues and form a view, and if necessary, to present your findings and opinions in class.

Google and Yahoo will typically provide a useful start for the search for more information. Wikipedia will usually give you some leads. Indeed, some of the entries, when you type in the case names that follow, are quite good. But do remember that entries in Wikipedia, though now edited, cannot be relied on for unbiased accuracy. The news sites of financial journals, such as the Economist, Forbes, Financial Times, Fortune and Reuters, can also provide relevant information.

Your tutor may also encourage you to explore issues in the context of articles in the relevant academic and professional journals. Corporate Governance - an international review (Blackwell) provides reliable access to the research-based literature.
