An excellent online database that allows you to search by keyword for articles in a number of education journals. You can view either the abstract or the full text of an article and save your searches to disk. A very useful resource for coursework essays and literature reviews.



The Guardian: Education

A section of The Guardian newspaper that is published online, this site is full of information and journalistic articles about various aspects of education, from schools to universities and vocational training. It's a helpful resource if you are researching a particular issue or current debate.



Department for Education and Skills

This governmental website tell you all you need to know about the way education is organized at a policy level in the UK. It contains reports on topical news stories related to education, and information on the National Curriculum and OFTSED inspections.



Gender and Education Association

Based at the University of Warwick, this group of feminist scholars aims to share ideas and research findings on gender and education. There is an email distribution list for whose who subscribe, as well as reduced rates for the journal Gender and Education. The association also organizes international conferences, which would help you to 'network' with others in this area of research.

This is a really interesting page of web links to articles and other resources on multi-cultural education, compiled by the California State University library. It contains a mixture of academic articles about the meaning of ‘multi-cultural education’, practical resources for teachers, such as ‘multicultural’ lesson plans, links to electronic journals about ethnicity and education, and some interesting information on folklore, mythology and literature from different countries.
