Disability Alliance - the leading authority on social security benefits for disabled people. The site provides regularly updated information about benefits, tax credits and community care as well as disability related campaigns and parliamentary news.

British Council of Disabled People - the UK's national organisation of the worldwide Disabled People's Movement. It was set up in 1981 by disabled people to promote our full equality and participation in UK society.

Help the Aged - Working together with older people, Help the Aged campaigns, researches and develops practical solutions, to ensure that older people have enough money to live on; feel more involved and less isolated or alone; get equality and rights in all areas of their lives; and receive high-quality care, when and where they need it.

Joseph Rowntree Foundation - one of the largest social policy research and development charities in the UK, spending about £7 million a year on a research and development programme that seeks to better understand the causes of social difficulties and explore ways of overcoming them.

The Nuffield Foundation - the Foundation funds a programme of research and development on older people. It funds work that starts from the perspectives, needs and interests of the older person and his or her family, rather than those of service providers. It is interested in projects that will enhance individual autonomy and choice and that recognise variation in preferences and provision.

Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE online) - At Social Care Online you can access a wide range of information and research on all aspects of social care. New content is added daily and is drawn from a range of resources including journal articles, websites, research reviews, legislation and government documents, and service user knowledge.
