Borkowski & du Plessis: Textbook on Roman Law 3e
Online library catalogues and databases of publications (books and articles)
The online catalogue of the Max-Planck Institute for European Legal History in Frankfurt:
www.mpier.uni-frankfurt.de
Although this site is in German, it is still eminently usable. Follow the link "Digitale Bibliothek" to the online catalogue of this Institute. It has one of the best collections of modern Romanist literature in a variety of languages and provides a good starting-point for a literature search.
The online open-access catalogue of the Vatican Library:
bav.vatican.va/en/v_home_bav/home_bav.shtml
This is an amazing site with a searchable online catalogue of most of the collections housed in the Vatican Library. It provides a wealth of information about literature of the European ius commune and is also a great starting point for a literature search.
The database of publications of the Centre de Documentation des Droits de l'Antiquité: CNRS-Université Paris II:
www2.misha.fr/flora/jsp/index.jsp
To reach the site you need to click on the left hand link labelled 'Sites Herberges' then, within the new page, you need to click on the link labelled 'Antiquite'.
This is a wonderfully useful searchable database of publications (books and articles) on Roman law. It only contains references to articles - full text is not available. Hint: If you want to establish what has been written on a wide topic such as sale, use the English version of the search engine and search by Topics/keyword (Latin terminology generates more hits, but English equivalent may also be used.) If you have more detailed information available, use the other elements of the search engine.
