- Three companies that are particularly well known for their corporate social responsibility are Starbucks (www.starbucks.com or www.starbucks.co.uk), Ben & Jerry’s (www.benjerry.com) and The Body Shop (www.thebodyshop.com or www.thebodyshopinternational.com). Compare and contrast the company websites, and examine the information that they present regarding their CSR policies and practices. Is this an important component of their websites? How do you know? Do these companies just go through the motions to be seen as good community citizens? How do you know?
- Visit the websites for PETA (www.peta.org), Greenpeace (www.greenpeace.org), Earthwatch (www.earthwatch.org) and the Free Burma Coalition (www.freeburma.org). What do these websites have in common? How can for-profit corporations build relationships with these NGOs? Do they explain how to become a partner? What types of companies would be more appropriate for these kinds or relationships? Why?
