Iron(III) ion as an acid
Iron(III) ion acts as a Brønsted acid as is shown by the pH indicator paper.. The brownish color of the solution is characteristic of the hydroxy species as the hexaquairon( III) ion is pale purple.

Acidity of aqueous carbon dioxide
A lump of solid carbon dioxide is placed in water containing a few drops of universal indicator. The indicator changes colour to indicate an acid.
