Your institution or department will have specific requirements concerning your dissertation such as:

1. the form of binding
2. how it is to be presented
3. whether an abstract is required
4. page margins; line spacing; font size
5. content of title page
6. the format for referencing
7. number of words
8. the structure of the dissertation
9. how much advice you can get from your supervisor
10. warnings/advice on plagiarism
11. deadlines, and whether or not a full draft should be submitted before the deadline
12. how much (if any) financial assistance you can expect
