van Marrewijk: International Trade and the World Economy
Charles van Marrewijk is Associate Professor of International Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Born in Het Westland, the Dutch horticultural center, in 1959 as the fifth child in a catholic family with nine children, he studied horticulture and worked as a grower before studying economics in Holland at Erasmus University Rotterdam (BA and MA) and in the United States at Purdue University (MSc and PhD). He worked at the University of Groningen for three years before returning to Erasmus University in 1990. He has a wide range of research interests, encompassing international economics, economic growth, geographical economics, development economics, and macroeconomics. Charles van Marrewijk has published in various journals, including Weltwirtschaftliches Archiv, Oxford Economic Papers, Journal of Regional Science, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Journal of International Economics, Journal of Development Economics, Regional Science and Urban Economics, and the International Economic Review. Stephan Schueller studied economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam and at the Tinbergen Institute. During part of his study he was a student assistant at the Department of Economics, where he worked together with Daniel Ottens and Charles van Marrewijk on International Trade & the World Economy. |
Daniel Ottens studied economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam with a specialisation in International Economics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics. His graduate thesis "Revealed Comparative Advantage: An empirical analysis" discussed the Balassa-index for the OECD-countries. He is currently completing the "Master of Philosphy in Economics" programme at the Tinbergen Institute. During part of his study he was a student assistant at the Department of Economics, where he worked together with Stephan Schueller and Charles van Marrewijk on
International Trade & the World Economy. He also taught International Economics to the second-year students of the Erasmus University. |
