Take a visit to the Geert-Hofstede.com resource centre at www.geert-hofstede.com to explore the information and resources related to cross-culture and inter-cultural communication and relations available on this site. This is a valuable free Internet resource for cross-cultural analysis.

Then, click on Hofstede’s Resource Pages. Use the Hofstede’s cultural dimensions scores to compare and contrast the cultural dimensions (i.e. Power Distance, Uncertainty Avoidance, Individualism and Masculinity) of a foreign country (of your choice) with your country of origin. Discuss your findings with your tutor and/or classmates.


How this helps you to learn
This activity provides the learner with the opportunity to tap into the valuable resources available on Hofstede’s website. It seeks to familiarize the learner with the use of Hofstede’s four cultural dimensions to conduct a cross-cultural analysis of his/her country of origin or choice. This may then be presented in class as part of a discussion on the complexity in analyzing cultures.
