Section 3

Chapter 7: Crossing the Border and Leave to Remain

www.ukvisas.gov.uk is the home page of UK Visas. Click on 'More about UK Visas' to get access to the Diplomatic Service Procedures which are the guidance notes for entry clearance officers. Also under this link you can read the reports of the Independent Monitor for Entry Clearance.

To read about the cross-departmental development of the UK Border Agency, see the Cabinet Office website: http://www.cabinetoffice.gov.uk/border_review.aspx, where you can read Security in a Global Hub.

Chapter 8: Challenging Decisions and Judicial Review

The home page of the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal is www.ait.gov.uk. It gives some introduction to the hearing centres around the country, access to practice directions, an outline of the appeals process. It also has a database of tribunal cases, a very useful public domain source as these decisions can be hard to track down. As well as reported determinations, some unreported determinations are available, though searchable only by date. There are also lists of country guidelines (see chapter 12) and starred determinations.

www.oisc.gov.uk is the home page of the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner. Through this you can gain access to the code of standards and rules employed by the Commissioner, and OISC policy statements and newsletters.

www.ilpa.org.uk is the home page of the Immigration Law Practitioners Association, and carries information about publications which may not be generally available as well as ILPA's submissions to government or Parliamentary committees on current matters.
