Part 4. Links from the Home Page
- At the top left of the page in the large gray area, click on the link for Home to return to the WormBase home page. On the left side of the screen for the home page are two blue text boxes. The top of these is Web Site Directory, which provides other ways to search WormBase; useful links to the genomes of other Caenorhabditis species that WormBase maintains; a user's guide and FAQ section; a worm community forum; and so on.
- The bottom of each of these two blue boxes includes useful links to other resources, most of which are not maintained by the curators of WormBase. Of particular note here are the links to WormAtlas, an extensive and often beautiful set of images and drawings of C. elegans anatomy, and to WormBook, an on-going set of authoritative reviews about many aspects of molecular biology and genetics of C. elegans.
- The right hand side of the page includes news about upcoming meetings, user surveys, posts from the Worm Community forum, and so on. This information changes frequently.
- Most of the other links along the top of the home page provide rapid access to some specific bioinformatics tools to work with a gene or a set of sequence data. A person browsing the database for information about a gene or a biological process may never use these links, but it is worthwhile exploring them to see what sequence analysis tools are available.
