Chapter 21

General housing law

For a full and authoritative account of housing law you should refer to A. Arden and C. Hunter, Manual of Housing Law (8th edn., Sweet & Maxwell, 2007).

We would also recommend D. Hughes, M. Davis, V. Matthews, and A. Jones, Text and Materials on Housing Law (Oxford University Press, 2004) for a full explanation of the law.

Both the Legal Action Group and the Citizens' Advice Bureau publish well-informed and practical accounts of particular areas of housing law in their monthly magazines, Legal Action and The Adviser. In addition Legal Action publishes a range of housing law books aimed at the practitioner but accessible and informative for the general reader. These include:

D. Astin, Housing Law - an advisor's handbook (1st edn., Legal Action Group, 2007).

J. Luba, N. Madge, and D. McConnell, Defending Possession Proceedings (6th edn., Legal Action Group, 2006).

A. Arden, D. Carter, and A. Dymond, Quiet Enjoyment (6th edn., Legal Action, 2002).

J. Luba and S. Knafler, Repairs - Tenants' Rights (3rd edn., Legal Action, 1999).

A. Arden, C. Hunter, and L. Johnson, Homelessness and Allocations (7th edn., Legal Action
Group, 2006).
