Herschel Prins' Offenders, Deviants or Patients? (3rd edition, Taylor & Francis, 2005) is both a good recent overview of the literature and a provocative read; similarly, Toby Seddon's Punishment and Madness: Governing Prisoners with Mental Health Problems (Cavendish, 2006) provides a contrasting picture to the themes pursued in this chapter. Littlechild and Fearns's edited collection, Mental disorder and criminal justice. Policy, provision and practice (Russell House, 2005) also contains a wealth of material and useful references to recent work on aspects of policy and practice in the field. The three Internet sites mentioned in the text, two relating to personality disorder—www.dspdprogramme.gov.uk/home_flash/index.php and www.personalitydisorder.org.uk—and one to the Joint Scrutiny Committee on the Draft Mental Health Bill 2004—www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/jt200405/jtselect/jtment/79/7906.htm—are all worth visiting.
