It is often argued that in the UK, both the Labour and Conservative parties offer no real alternative to the electorate. With the death of Labours traditionally interventional economic policies following the election of New Labour in 1997 it was argued that the new government was merely continuing the policies of the previous Conservative administration. Is this true and have we seen the end of major economic differences between the two main political parties in Britain?
