Welcome to i-c@fé. We hope that you will find this a useful resource. Below are some suggestions as to how you may like to use each section of the site in order to make the most out of it.

i-c@fé is centred around three magazines. On the surface, i-c@fé français is designed to look like a typical French magazine for teenagers, but the underlying support means that students can work through it independently:

  • It is ideal for homework activities
  • The wide variety of topics covered make it useful as a research tool for any students doing coursework.

However, i-c@fé français can also be used in the classroom:

  • Students could work in groups, reading through the À la une, or the En direct section, and completing the activities. This could then be used as a focus for discussion. These articles could also be used as guided reading activities on an interactive whiteboard.
  • The Sur la piste page contains curriculum-linked articles which could be used to reinforce what is being studied in class, or as the basis for a revision session. Previous editions will be available online for one year after publication.
  • Students could be encouraged to complete our writing templates (found on the À la une page and the Ici et là page). Their work may then be submitted for publication on our bulletin board.

Once you have subscribed, you can also take advantage of our special offers, exclusive to subscribers of i-c@fé.

i-c@fé français is a pioneering venture, and one which we very much hope will develop to provide a resource that is relevant to the interests and needs of your students. So please e-mail us with your views on the site. We would welcome any suggestions you have to make it even more useful. Just click on the address below, with any comments.
