Benefits
We offer a comprehensive range of benefits to our staff. These include:
Holidays
Our holiday entitlement is 25 working days in each calendar year, with enhancement for long service. We also operate a holiday banking scheme.
Preferred Working Hours
Most employees in Oxford work a 35-hour week, and many can choose a system of preferred working hours. A variety of different working patterns operate at Corby.
Pension Scheme
We offer a choice of pension arrangements, including a final salary scheme. Life assurance cover for scheme members is four times pensionable salary.
Personal Accident
We operate a Personal Accident Scheme, the purpose of which is to provide a lump-sum benefit to staff in the event of death or injury as a result of an accident. The benefit applies at all times, whether or not staff are on Press business.
Maternity/Paternity Benefits
Our maternity and paternity schemes provide leave and benefits significantly in excess of statutory entitlements.
Sickness/Disability
We operate a good short-term sick pay scheme. Members of staff unfortunate enough to suffer a long-term illness or disability could benefit from our Income Protection Scheme.
Childcare
We retain a small number of places in the three University nurseries in Oxford, managed by a well-established company with a wealth of experience in childcare provision. In addition, a childcare voucher salary sacrifice scheme is available to help parents with the cost of childcare by enabling them to benefit from tax and National Insurance savings.
Employee Assistance Programme
Our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provides staff with a free and confidential information and counselling service on personal issues. The service is provided by an external organization which operates a helpline 24 hours a day, allowing employees to seek advice about any problem from the privacy of their homes.
Season Ticket Loans
We offer interest-free season ticket loans to staff, which are repayable on a monthly basis from their salary.
Bicycle Scheme
We operate a salary sacrifice loan scheme which allows staff to purchase bicycles with tax and National Insurance savings and spread the cost of the loan over 12 months.
Book Purchases
All members of staff are entitled to a 50 per cent discount on all OUP books, and books from other publishers can be ordered at trade discounts.
Restaurant, Espresso Bar, and Shop
Excellent catering facilities on both the Oxford and Corby sites provide a high standard of food, including healthy eating and vegetarian options. On the Oxford site there is also an Espresso Bar and a shop selling freshly-made sandwiches, baguettes, newspapers, magazines, and other items.
Sports & Social
We have an on-site fitness centre in Oxford, as well as a sports ground in North Oxford catering for soccer, cricket, tennis, and bowls. The Press also has a variety of other social clubs, including a choir, music and drama society, cycling, running and golf clubs.
