Preface
Preface to the third edition
For the third edition, coverage has been expanded by the
addition of some ten thousand updates to each side of the
dictionary. The principal sources of these updates have been:
the research into terminology and language change constantly
in progress at Oxford University Press; the use of sophisticated
filters to search Internet text for new words and for terms not
included in previous editions; the observations of the editors,
and of numerous external correspondents; the comments of a
team of readers based in Spanish- and English-speaking
countries.
In addition, access to the information contained in the
dictionary has been made even easier through a completely
new, color layout. Hundreds of cultural notes together with
boxes containing guidance on grammar and usage, now
included in the text, greatly extend the range of information
provided.
The editors hope that this revision will ensure that the Oxford Spanish Dictionary will continue to provide the fullest and most accurate description possible of today"s Spanish and English as written and spoken on both sides of the Atlantic.
