Arrest and detention pending derogating control order p 930

The Prevention of Terrorism Act 2005 (Continuance in force of ss 1 to 9) Order 2007, SI 2007/706 provides that these provisions will continue in force for one year beginning with 11 March 2007.

Meaning of 'terrorism' in the Terrorism Act 2000 p 931

The Court of Appeal has held that the definition of terrorism in TA 2000, s 1 is unambiguous and that the reference to 'any other government' means the government of any other country and not, as argued before it, a representative or democratic government of another country. [R v F (2007) Times, 16 February]

Possession of articles for terrorist purposes p 941

A document or record is an article for the purposes of the TA 2000, s 57. [R v Rowe (2007) Times 26 March]

Unlawful collection, recording or possession of information p 942

It cannot be a reasonable excuse to a charge of possessing documents etc contrary to TA 2000, s 58 that the documents etc originated as part of an effort to change an illegal or undemocratic regime. [R v F (2007) Times, 16 February, CA]
