A chief officer of police may not deprive a pedlar of his certificate during its currency. The only way in which a pedlar may be deprived of a certificate is by order of a court in circumstances set out in the PA 1871, s 16. [R (Jones) v CC Cheshire Constabulary (2005) Times, 4 November]
