Sally M. Abel (United States of America)
is the head of the Trademark Group at FENWICK & WEST LLP in Palo Alto,
USA. She advises mainly in the field of international trademark and
intellectual property rights in signs, in particular in the development and management
of trademark portfolios and domain portfolios, and with respect to
questions of intellectual property right in signs in cyberspace.
From May 1998 to May 2000, Sally Abel was a member of the Board of
Directors of the International Trademark Association (INTA),and from 1996 to
1998 Chairperson of the INTA Internet Subcommittee and of the INTA Issues
and Policy Committee. She has long played a leading role in the international
debate on the regulation of domain names, including serving as the INTA
representative in the International Ad Hoc Committee (IAHC). As WIPO
Arbitration and Mediation Center panelist, she has been involved in decisions
on numerous domain name conflicts based on the Uniform Domain Name
Dispute Resolution.
Sally Abel writes and holds lectures on intellectual property rights in signs on the
Internet, and holds a course on international trademark law at Boalt Hall (UC
Berkeley). She is listed as one of a three most frequently cited trademark attorneys
in Euromoney's "Best of the Best" Global Guide to the World's Best Lawyers.
Dr. Mustafa Aksu (Turkey)
is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Istanbul. The
focus of his activity is in the field of civil, intellectual property and labour law.
Dr. Aksu studied law at the universities of Dicle (Diyarbakir), Istanbul und
Tübingen. From 1989-1992 he was academic assistant to Prof. Dr. Münir
Ekonomi, Prof. Dr. Devrim Ulucan, Prof. Dr. Öner Eyrenci and Prof. Dr. Savas
Taskent at the Faculty of Management Science at the Istanbul Technical
University.
Dr. Aksu acquired his doctorate at the Faculty of Law at Tübingen with the
assistance of a scholarship from the Turkish Ministry of Culture. Following his
doctorate, he worked as academic assistant at the chair of Prof. Dr. Eduard

Pravin Anand (India)
is a senior partner of ANAND AND ANAND, New Delhi. He has been practising
both as an advocate and as a patent and trademark attorney. He has been a
counsel in many important intellectual property cases, and he serves on the
editorial board of several international intellectual property journals such as IP
Asia, Entertainment Law Review and Computer & Telecommunications Law
Review.
Pravin Anand has served on several international and national expert groups and
committees, including the Patent Law drafting committee for revising and
recommending changes to the law. He is the chairman of IPR Promotion
Advisory Committee (IPAC) constituted by the Government of India, and the
chairman of the IT Committee set up by FICCI, as well as a panelist of the

Dr. Torsten Bettinger, LL.M. (Germany)
is an attorney at law with the patent attorneys and attorney-at-law chambers of
BETTINGER SCHNEIDER SCHRAMM in Munich. He advises mainly in
the field of industrial property law, e-commerce, software and patent licensing
and copyright. Dr. Bettinger is a panelist with the WIPO Arbitration and
Mediation Center in Geneva and was a member of the WIPO-ASPIC Expert
Group which was involved in the drafting of the "WIPO-ASPIC Dispute
Avoidance and Resolution Best Practices and Guidelines for the Application
Server Provider Industry". He is also a member of the Legal Advisory Board to
the Deutsche Network Information Centre (DENIC).
Dr. Bettinger holds a Master of Law degree from the London School of Economics
and Political Science. From 1987 to 1991, he was academic assistant to

James Bridgeman, FCIArb (Ireland)
is a practising barrister, arbitrator and mediator. He is a lecturer in Law at
the Institute of Technology, Tallaght and a graduate of Trinity College Dublin where he read History and Political Science. He subsequently read
Law at the Kings Inns, Dublin. Before commencing practice as a barrister he
qualified as a Registered Trademarks Agent. He has a Diploma in Arbitration
Law (DIT Bolton Street, 1990), a Diploma in International Arbitration
Law (DIT Bolton Street, 1991), a Diploma in European Law (UCD, 1994)

Dr. Angela Brüning (France)
is an attorney at law with BMH AVOCATS in Paris and lecturer for multimedia
and data protection law at the University of Paris II (Assas) and the Faculty of
Natural Sciences at the University of Paris XII. Dr. Brüning focuses on the field
of industrial property and multimedia law. She studied law in Aix-en-Provence

Makoto Hattori, LL.M. (Japan)

Iouri Kobiako (Russian Federation)
is a German patent attorney at FROHWITTER Intellectual Property Counselors
in Munich. He is primarily involved with the acquisition and enforcement
of industrial property rights and international licensing projects, with
strong emphasis on telecommunication technology. Iouri Kobiako earned his
summa cum laude degree in applied physics and mathematics from the Moscow
Institute of Physics and Technology ("PhysTech") in Russia. He obtained his

Jostein Solberg (Norway)
is currently a Deputy Judge at Fredrikstad District Court (tingrett) and was
from 2003 to 2004 a senior official at the Norwegian Mass Media Authority.
From 2001 to 2003 he was attorney at law at KVALE & CO. in Oslo. The focus

Alain Strowel (Belgium)

is a partner at ALLEN & GLEDHILL and a Senior Counsel in the Supreme
Court of Singapore. The focus of his work is in the field of intellectual property

Knud Wallberg (Denmark)

Tony Willoughby (United Kingdom)
qualified as a solicitor in 1970 and worked in the Trade Marks
Department of The Distillers Company Limited (now part of Diageo) until
joining Herbert Smith in 1973. He became a partner in 1977 and remained
there until 1994 when he left to join Rouse & Co (now Willoughby & Partners/
Rouse & Co International). Throughout, the focus of his work has been in the
field of intellectual property. As a WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center
Administrative panelist, he has been involved in decisions on numerous
ICANN domain name disputes; he also acts as a panelist for the Nominet UK
