Kathleen Peyton began writing while still at school, with her first book being accepted for publication at the age of fifteen. She decided on writing as a career after the birth of her children, although she went to art school and always wanted to be a painter.

OUP have published over twenty of Kathleen's novels, perhaps the most well-known of those being the four books that make up the Flambards series

Kathleen Peyton now lives in Chelmsford, in Essex.
