Stephen Elboz was born in Wellingborough, Northants where he still lives. He started to write while still at school, encouraged by a teacher, but left with only one GCSE (for technical drawing!) having failed English dismally. Later, however, he studied history at Lancaster University, also managing to win a competition to have a play produced on the local radio station.

Stephen is now a junior school teacher in Corby, teaching part-time so he can write more. Stephen was awarded the Smarties Young Judges' Prize for his first published novel, The House of Rats.

Check out Stephen's latest title - The Prisoner's Apprentice, a rattling adventure about friendship, set in the dramatic and atmospheric landscape of Russia.
