How does it work and what will I need?
- Initial assessment material in the teacher's handbook indicates the best starting place for each child. Continuous assessment is provided throughout the programme. See bottom of this page for a free spreadsheet to track assessment levels
- Speed sounds cards and Picture Sounds Cards introduce the 44 sounds and the corresponding graphemes (letters), to enable children to decode words easily. A Phonemes Pronunciation Guide DVD also helps train the children to get the ‘pure’ sound.
- Ditty books and Ditty Photocopy masters give the children early practice!
- 75 lively fiction storybooks provide structured practice in decoding words and reading through phonics. Each set of books is carefully graded so that children can read them with confidence, as soon as they have learned the sounds linked to the set.
- NEW 35 full colour non-fiction books provide structured practice for children in decoding words and reading through phonics with child-friendly topics including animals, space, the Victorians and hobbies.
- Interactive Stories give an additional resource of 14 storybooks with accompanying activities to use on you interactive whiteboard or PC.
- Linked Get Writing! books at every level reinforce the reading-writing connection and ensure they progress as well with their writing.
- Clear and detailed teacher handbook, with excellent classroom management strategies, provides full support and guidance for implementing Read Write Inc. in your school. Helpful additional resources such as Posters, Sounds Picture friezes, Green and Red Words Cards and Magnetic Sounds cards
Speed Sounds sets 1, 2 and 3 interactive CD-ROM
The Speed Sounds Interactive CD-ROM contains multimedia flipcharts for interactive whiteboards.
The flipcharts help pupils to learn the 44 sounds of the Read Write Inc. programme through engaging and motivating animation, sound and activities.
Phonemes Pronunciation Guide DVD
This DVD shows you how to pronounce the 44 phonemes of the English Language in a pure way, which helps your children to hear the sounds in a word, and so to aid their blending for reading and spelling. The DVD shows children and adults pronouncing all the sounds then linking these to Read Write Inc. Speed Sounds Cards.
