Julia Donaldson – best-selling author of 'The Gruffalo' and Oxford Reading Tree Songbirds 

Julia Donaldson was born and raised in North London. She wrote songs for children's television for many years, and during this time one of her songs became the best-selling book 'A Squash and a Squeeze'.

This marked the beginning of her hugely successful career writing children's books - including the much-loved story 'The Gruffalo'.
