The Course Companions also ensure that students develop the qualities outlined in the IB learner profile, striving to be: inquirers, thinkers, communicators, and risk-takers; knowledgeable, principled, open-minded, caring, balanced and reflective.
They are not designed to be complete and prescriptive textbooks. Instead they mirror the IB philosophy of viewing the curriculum in terms of a whole-course approach with a wide range of resources, while ensuring that areas of the curriculum that are unique to the IB Diploma Programme or to a new course are covered.
