- Q, How do I access the cases on the Interactive CD?
When you purchase a Topic Pack with CD access, you will receive the Interactive CD and three Teacher's Guide booklets. On the back of the booklet you will find passwords to access the relevant cases on the Interactive CD. To unlock a case on the CD, enter the password the first time you login. All three cases in the Topic Pack will be unlocked and will remain unlocked ? you will not need to re-enter your password each time.

- Q, I have entered the password, but I cannot access the cases.
If you are having trouble getting a password to work, please check that the second character you enter is a capital I, not number 1. Also, if you have purchased Maths Investigator for more than one year, please ensure you have the right password for your year.

- Q, Can we put Maths Investigator onto a learning platform or VLE (virtual learning environment)?
Not yet. If there is a clear demand from the majority of the market, we will consider adapting the software to make this possible in future. Please let us know if you would like MI in this format.

- Q, I want to use Maths Investigator on an RM CC3 network. Is that possible?
Yes, it is. If you are installing Maths Investigator on an RM CC3 network, please see the file README_RM_CC3.pdf on the root directory of the CD-ROM. To do this, open My Computer when the CD-ROM is in the disc drive and select the drive that the CD-ROM is in. You will then see the root directory. - Q, When I start Maths Investigator, it goes through the animation and comes to the door, but that's all I can see and I can't log in.
There are two possible causes for this problem. First, please ensure you are following the instructions on page 3 of the instruction manual correctly. If the problem persists, it will be to do with your screen resolution. Maths Investigator needs to run with the screen resolution set at 1024x768. To set this, please take the following steps:
- Go to My Computer
- Open the Control Panel.
- Switch to Classic View using the setting on the left (if using Windows XP or Vista).
- Click on Display to go to the Display properties.
- Click on the Settings tab.
- Change the resolution slider to 1024x768.
- Click on OK and wait for your screen resolution to change successfully.
- On certain setups you will have to select "Yes" when asked if you want to keep this resolution setting.
If this causes adverse effects on your monitor, please consult your machine vendor to ensure your monitor is capable of displaying this resolution as MI will not work correctly on any machine with a screen resolution below 1024x768.

- Q, When I use the measuring tool in the Shape and Space tool, the grid squares are taller than they are wide.
This is the case on only PC version 1.0 of the MI3 Interactive CD. Please email us at edtechsupport@oup.com and we will send you a fixed version of the tool with instructions on where to install it.
