Gillian Cross
Gillian Cross was born on the edge of London and, for as long as she can remember,
has loved reading books and stories. However, Gillian always wanted to write
books of her own. When she was at school, she used to while away the long train
journey home by telling her friends an interminable serial all about themselves.
Gillian has been writing children's books for over 20 years, and she has won
not only the Carnegie Medal for Wolf
but also the Smarties Prize and the Whitbread Children's Novel Award for The
Great Elephant Chase. Gillian's Demon Headmaster series has been serialised
on BBC television and was given a brand new funky look in 2004!
The climax of Gillian's amazing Dark Ground trilogy The Nightmare Game is set to publish this November - the final volume of an incredible adventure story packed with suspense and surprises.
Gillian and her husband live near Coventry. They have four children.
