Helen Cresswell

Helen started writing at the tender age of six years old! At that time her primary interest was in poetry. She went on to write a number of wonderful stories, such as The Bongleweed and The Piemakers. Oxford was delighted to publish Helen's classic Bagthorpes series in 2005: Ordinary Jack, Absolute Zero, Bagthorpes Unlimited and Bagthorpes V. the World.

Helen also wrote many television scripts, including Five Children and It, The Demon Headmaster and Lizzie Dripping.

Sadly in 2005, Helen died at the age of 71.
