Beverly Cleary spent her childhood on a farm near Oregon where no books were available until her mother arranged to have some shipped from the State Library. She soon resolved to become a children's librarian and to write when she grew up. She fulfilled both ambitions, working as a children's librarian before going on to become America's most popular children's author, after J K Rowling.

Beverly has won many prestigious awards, including the American Library Associations' Laura Ingalls Wilder Award. She lives with her husband in the United States. They have two children and two grandchildren.

Oxford University Press is delighted to publish the entire Ramona series.
