About the Oxford Handbook Series
The Handbooks contain in-depth, high-level articles by scholars at the top of their field in the majority of academic disciplines in which we publish, which provide a scholarly snapshot of a topic as well as offer original scholarly arguments. A Handbook is intended for a sophisticated reader who needs a sophisticated introduction to a particular area within a discipline – a researcher, practitioner, or graduate student. The content is specially commissioned for the print volumes, and each volume contains between twenty and forty original essays.
