1. How do I subscribe?

First use the online catalogue to find the online product and subscription length you want. Click on the "ADD TO BASKET" button to add the subscription to your electronic shopping basket. You will have the opportunity to change your mind and discard the subscription later. If you wish to proceed with the purchase as stated, click on the "Proceed" button.

To use our on-line ordering system you will need to register with our site. If you have not used the service before you can register at this stage. Otherwise use your email address and password to log-on, you will then be presented with the contact details we currently hold for you. You may amend these by over-typing them. You will then be asked for your credit card details and shown the amount that will be charged to your credit card, including VAT where applicable. Only when you click on "Place your order" will the order be placed and the amount charged to your card.

2. The online product I want to subscribe to is not listed in the catalogue. How do I place an order?

Products not listed in the online catalogue cannot be ordered online. Please contact our Online Support team to place a subscription or call us on +44 1865 353484 during the hours of 8.30am - 5.00pm GMT.

3. How can I order a subscription if I do not wish to subscribe online?

Orders can be placed over the phone, by email, fax or post.
In order to process your order, please provide us with the following information

Your full name
Your full postal address
Your email address and contact telephone number
Your credit or debit card details (card type, number, start and expiry date, also the card billing address if this is different from your postal address)

Please also tell us which product or products you wish to subscribe to and which subscription period you require (3 months or 12 months).

Please send this information to us via one of the routes below. Once your order has been processed you will receive a confirmation email from the Online Support team.

6. Which credit cards are accepted?

We accept VISA, MasterCard, Solo and Switch/Maestro debit and credit cards.

7. How does the DataCash system work?

We work with UniTech who provide a high-security internet payment gateway. DataCash captures your payment details, operates the credit card validation, and then passes an access request to our access control system. Your credit card details will not be stored by DataCash, Oxford University Press or any other parties.

8. Is it secure?

The software we use is highly secure and is used by many other retailers for online purchases. Messages travelling between our online catalogue and the UniTech secure server do not contain any personal data.

9. How do you acknowledge online purchases?

After you have completed your online purchase, you'll be sent an email message with your login details. Please keep this email safe.

10. Will I get a receipt?

After you have completed your online purchase, we recommend that you print out your order confirmation if you wish to keep a paper receipt. If you require a VAT receipt, please email Onlinepersonalsubs@oup.com

11. How long before I get access?

As soon as your online order has been completed and you have received the confirmation email you will be able to access your subscription.

12. How much tax will I pay?

VAT will be charged according to EC rules applicable for online services. For detailed information on countries where VAT is chargeable, see these pages.

13. In what language can I conclude the contract to buy an Online Product from your website?

At present, the only language in which you can conclude a contract with us over the website is English. All of our Online Products are also only available in English.

14. I am an OUP author/contributor. Can I claim my author's/contributor's discount when I buy online?

Please contact our Online Support team for further advice. If you are a DNB contributor please state this in your email.

15. I am a trade customer/subscriptions agent. Can I buy at trade discount?

No, you can't. Please use your normal mechanism for placing orders, and you will receive your normal discount.

16. I am purchasing on behalf of an institution and wish to buy access for multiple users. What are your pricing schedules and how can I order?

We have a schedule of prices which depends on the size and type of your institution, or the number of concurrent users. Institutional subscribers may register here for a quotation and/or free trial.

17. Is it possible to share my subscription with others?

No, you can't share your login, please visit our terms and conditions for more information.

18. I would like to subscribe on behalf of another person. How can I do this?

Please contact our Online Support team.

19. Can I specify a start date for my subscription?

All subscriptions will start on the day the order was placed. It is not possibly to specify a date in the future. Simply revisit the shop on the day you wish your subscription to start.

20.Where can I access my online subscription?

Access to individual subscriptions is via username and password. Once you have received confirmation of your purchase, you can use your username and password to access your subscription from any computer where there is access to the internet.

21. Can I download the information onto my PC?

No. Subscriptions are for online access only. Access will only be available online for the period of your subscription.

22. Can I change my username and password?

When you register with the Online Shop your username automatically defaults to the email address. This will be the username you need to access your online subscription and you should continue to use this email address as your username, even if your email address changes. You will be able to change your email address the next time you login to the online shop to buy another subscription (once you have done this, your username will change to your new registered email address). You will not be able to change your password so please select this carefully.

23. I purchased my subscription via Click&Buy and I'm having problems logging in. What should I do?

If you purchased your subscription via Click&Buy you will need to access the online resource via your Click&Buy account. You can do this by going to the main homepage of the online product you are subscribed to, and clicking on the link for Click&Buy subscribers (this can usually be found underneath the general username and password boxes).

24. I have another question which isn't on your list. Who should I send it to?
