The Teacher Resource Exchange (TRE) is a moderated database of resources and activities created by teachers. All resources on the TRE are checked by subject specialists to ensure they are of the highest possible quality.
Resources are free to use and you can also add your own resources to share with other teachers. The TRE contains a wide selection of MFL lessons for ages 11-18, clearly marked for the relevant age group and Key Stage.
2. Linguanet www.linguanet-europa.org
Linguanet is a multilingual resources centre to support language teaching and training. It provides an impressive amount of information and links on language matters, including a section devoted to the use of the Internet in language teaching. Also includes many links to a huge variety of external websites dedicated to teaching and learning materials and reference resources in the target language.
3. ¡OYE! www.oye.languageskills.co.uk
¡OYE! provides interactive activities for Spanish teachers and learners, and features more than 500 exercises, including audio samples of native Spanish speakers. It also offers exercises for the interactive whiteboard. Although best done online, a lot of the exercises can be printed out and used in the classroom. This site will provide help for teachers trying to motivate their pupils, for pupils looking for ways to revise for tests or exams, and for anybody wanting to have some fun playing Spanish games. Shortlisted for the 'Best Online Learning Resource' at the BETT Awards 2004.
4. Musselburgh Grammar School www.mgsonline.org.uk
Although this school doesn't currently offer Spanish at GCSE, the links to the Spanish resources it lists are excellent. Incorporates sections covering The Basics (the weather, greetings, etc.), Lifestyles, Education and Work, Holidays, and a 'Grammar Points and Explanations' section.
5. Linguaweb www.linguaweb.co.uk
Linguaweb is a collection of online language learning resources for teachers and students of several foreign languages, including Spanish. The site director is based in Scotland and examination systems and levels are therefore sometimes described in the terminology of the Scottish education system.
Sections include a revision club, a resource centre for teachers, the Lingu@web café which presents games and quizzes and online chat facilities, and a news room.
6. BBC Schools www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish
An easy-to-navigate site about Spanish Language and culture. Students can use the "Talk Spanish" and "Sueños" online courses to improve their language skills or familiarise themselves with Spanish news and society. Separate sections for beginners and intermediate learners; a section for tutors; games and quizzes; TV and radio programmes, and special features on Spanish life.
